Dear Brett, I've read about the products you recommend on nutritional-supplement-truths and I'm quite convinced about their qualities. Below are my inquiries;
I'm a woman of about 56yrs of age. I've no serious ailment, except for knee joint pain, especially when I descend the steps. My blood pressure, sugar levels and cholesterol levels are normal. My height is 5'5" and my weight is about 80kg.
Could you suggest the best supplements for me to consume?
I live in Kota Bharu, Malaysia. How do I make the order for the suggested supplements.
I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you.
Answer From Brett:
Hello Fatima, thanks for contacting me with your question.
Having read your health description I would suggest you use the same two nutritional supplements as I do - one for your general health and one for your knee joint pain.
Firstly, in regard to your knee I recommend you start using the same Omega 3 / Joint formula supplement which I have used for the past 4 years now.
I am 45 years old, high performance tennis coach. I have been running around a tennis court almost every day for the past 25 years. My joints are very important to the continuation of my work (for many years to come).
To take care of my joints I use a premium grade supplement from the Xtend-life company based in New Zealand which is called GLM - Omega 3 Plus.
The critical features of this supplement formula are that it contains a very high DHA content and provides strong joint protection from a special nutrient - New Zealand GLM - Green Lipped Mussels (Perna Canaliculus).
The most important part of any Omega 3 fish oil is the DHA content! See this page for more information about this critical point: benefits of fish oil supplements
Most Omega fish oil supplements in the market are too weak because they have much more EPA and far less DHA (DHA is far more expensive for manufacturers to purchase - DHA is responsible for most of the awesome health benefits associated with omega 3 intake.)
The Xtend-life GLM-Omega 3 Plus supplement has a very high DHA content and is the best joint supplement I have reviewed - which is why I use it myself (as does my 80 year old mum who is still playing golf, lawn bowls and weight training at the gym each week).
The New Zealand GLM are somewhat famous because they are believed to contain a prostaglandin inhibitor that exerts anti-inflammatory effects beneficial to joint health. They are found only off the coast of New Zealand and are recognized as one of the best and most effective natural anti-inflammatory agents available. Many manufacturers do not use them because of their cost.
As a tennis coach I have to take prehabilitative action to protect my joints, especially my knees, as most tennis coaches eventually develop knee problems from cyclic overuse.
If you try the GLM OMEGA 3 Plus supplement and find after, say 3 months, that the pain in your knee has not decreased substantially, then I would recommend you stop using it and upgrade to a more focused arthritis supplement (which has a more powerful formula for tackling joint pain and inflammation.)
The pain you are feeling now may in fact already be the start of some arthritis in that joint and if this is the case then the GLM - Omega 3 Plus may not help. It all depends on the severity and extent of your knee condition right now.
My father had stiffness and discomfort in his hands and on my recommendation he started with the Xtend-life 'Arthrit-Eze' product - there's a link to it further down the page). Dad obtained excellent results, with his discomfort virtually disappearing and he was able to stop using this supplement after approx 3 months use. Thereafter, he used it every 3 months for a couple of months as a preventative measure.
So Fatimah, here are some links that will take you to the Xtend-Life product pages of the GLM-Omega 3 Plus and Arthrit-Eze products.
Once there you can read up and research these nutritional supplements and if you have any
