You're probably well aware by now that goji juice has simply taken the industry by storm! Goji fever has swept through the USA, Canada, Australia and is now moving through South East Asia.
In 2003, research was completed on the goji berry revealing its amazing nutritional density and unique polysaccharides. Goji's benefits are backed up with an incredible amount of international research.
The amount of scientific research supporting Goji's powerful disease fighting properties is tremendous!
Goji studies have been published in renowned journals including:
Doctors Speak Out
The benefits of Goji are real and they are documented! Renowned doctors and researchers have conducted case studies on goji. Here's a perfect example of what they have said:
"The results I have seen with goji juice are nothing short of astonishing."
Surprisingly I suspect that many people have still not heard of the goji berry. Quite a number of the people I have spoken to about it recently have no clue.
This amazing small red goji berry grows in many regions throughout the Himalayas and Central Asia. It has occupied an important place in traditional Asian medicine for generations.
No medicinal plant in all of Asian medicine can approach goji for its incredible diversity of legendary benefits.
Drinking goji on a daily basis gives your body access to the powerful active principles in goji berries – ‘Polysaccharides’.
Polysaccharides are a family of complex carbohydrates (plant sugars) bound to proteins. They are produced by some plants as an effective defense mechanism against attack by viruses, bacteria, fungi, soil-borne parasites, cell mutations, toxic pollutants and environmental free radicals.
Many of these protective effects are passed onto to us when we eat plants rich in polysaccharides (or drink goji juice!).
Scientists discovered unique polysaccahrides in goji that have not been discovered in any other food source to date.
Scientists called them LB1, LB2, LB3 and LB4. These turned out to beglycoconjugates meaning they are exceptional sources of the essential cell sugars - rhamnose, xylose, glucose, mannose, arabinose and galactose - that are necessary for proper intercellular communication.
Modern studies have confirmed many of the amazing properties of the goji berry.
In particular Chinese researchers have published studies in peer-reviewed journals which support the use of phytochemicals! - PARTICULARLY POLYSACCHARIDES!
Different Varieties Of Goji
There are over 40 species of goji that grow in Tibet alone. Each variety has its own distinctive appearance, color and taste
Science to the rescue.
After rounding up goji samples from around the world, scientists used spectroscopic analysis - a molecular fingerprinting technique - to single out the highest-quality, most nutrient-dense berries with the highest absorption in humans. This spectral signature was then used to identify the ideal berry.
It turns out that goji berries that originated from the Himalayan regionconsistently possess the ideal spectral signature! They come from the Lyciumfamily and are known as Lycium barbarum (latin name).
So, the first thing you need to consider if you are thinking about purchasing goji juice is the type and origin of the goji berries used to make it.
After that you need to look for the special spectral signature! It's your assurance of potency, purity and authenticity!
There are many brands of goji juice available for purchase on the internet and through MLM.
Unfortunately they are manufactured from inferior dried goji berries grown in different countries and do not conform to the spectral signature of the world’s best berries nor are they standardized to a high level of balanced polysaccharides. (Drying the berries removes some of the nutrients.)
At the time of writing this article, there’s only one company in the world licensed to sell goji juice containing berries with the spectral signature (and the juice is cold pressed soon after harvest to maintain all nutrient content). Unfortunately, legally, I cannot name them here.
Please don’t settle for lesser benefits from dehydrated berries or unstandardized goji drinks!
Goji is currently exploding in popularity in the west. Unfortunately whenever a genuine discovery such as goji is made there are many that quickly jump on the bandwagon with knock-off and spin-off products of lesser quality. This has become all too apparent with goji drinks and goji products.
While researching this article I visited many goji sites and I must say that although the products are not made from best Himalayan berries, the marketing efforts of the manufacturers are very clever.
They discuss the differences in Goji varieties and the need to use "only true Tibetan berries" or words to that effect - making it seem like they do indeed use the best berries.
The key of course is the fingerprint spectral signature which they fail to mention.
